I have a background in the visual arts, crafts, naturalist and indigenous studies, video production and nature photography. I'd heard the word permaculture off and on for many years, but never really understood what it was until a friend sent me a link to Geoff Lawton's "Greening the Desert" video. I was inspired and hooked. This is what I've been searching for.

I completed Geoff Lawton’s online Permaculture Design Course in April 2015: A fantastic transformative course! I received my Design Certificate in June 2015, which was very gratifying. I was compelled to do my design exercise on a friend’s 18-acre family farm, which has been idle for about 10 yrs. So Adam is beginning the process of farming the land again using permaculture principles. My current focus is to help Adam turn this farm into permaculture abundance and eventually become the first PRI (Permaculture Research Institute) demonstration site for the South Jersey area.

The first step will be organizing the Greater Hammonton Permaculture Club. We will focus on permaculture education and creating a model for reviving the family farm with permaculture design. Our project will be Adam’s family farm: to provide support, creative PETs, and networking. I am also currently developing low-tech solar energy systems using permaculture design principles.
