I discovered permaculture while driving a residential garbage truck. Watching the largest hole in the ground I have ever seen being filled with "garbage" (literal tons of uneaten food, "scrap" lumber, and products built to break) at an alarming rate caused me to seek a solution. I began absorbing as much permaculture knowledge and understanding as I could through podcasts by Jack Spirko, Paul Wheaton and Diego Footer among others, while continuing my driving work. I finally attended my PDC in June of 2015 with Midwest Permaculture and found a new extended family in fellow permies.
I have an interest in converting conventional row-crop land to large scale permaculture based food production systems. I also have an interest in "infecting" the suburbs with permaculture by installing abundantly productive edible landscaping in cookie cutter neighborhoods.
I am available for design work in Champaign, IL and surrounding areas, as well as Peoria, IL, Southeastern MN and NE Ohio.
I believe it is important to find ways to retrofit existing structures and systems rather than simply creating new, "better" ones right next door. I also believe we have a duty as permaculturists to do what is right according to the Three Ethics first and foremost and ask "permission" from the politicians last, if at all.
