(projects i'm involved in)
I am an artist, a freelance graphic designer, and a lover of growing things. I spent most of my childhood living in the country, in northern British Columbia. And now I am living in the country again.
I now live on a small island off the southwest coast of British Columbia. 27 acres of pure paradise. As I was researching how I would go about setting up a market garden, I came across the concept of permaculture; first through Bill Mollison videos and writings, and then eventually finding my hero, Geoff Lawton. I have spent the last few months immersed in studying permaculture, and am so pleased to see that the property we purchased lends itself very well to the techniques and principals.
So! Now we are clearing Scotch Broom, discovering the lay of the land - which is gorgeous - and planning our first gardens. Swales, ponds and dams, herb spiral and kitchen garden, hugelkultur (we have very sandy soil), food forests, greenhouse . . . and more! Lots to do, but it will all be worth it.
