My intro to permaculture: Maybe it started in Waldorf as a kid, but I got my PDC from Earth Activist Training with Starhawk and friends in 2006. That experience set my soul and career on a hopeful trajectory towards holistic forest utilization and management and union of humanity with nature through understanding.

Currently I'm a graduate student at The Center for Agroforestry, University of Missouri, studying cultivation of understory crops in Ozark forests. Here are videos of some great researchers speaking about temperate agroforestery, filmed at our annual symposium in January 2015:

Worked for the Forest Service and Community Food Initiations in Ohio previously. Undergrad from Ohio University in Plant Biology. I've been heavily involved with culture repair, community organizing around curbing fossil fuel use and rebirthing the commons. I practice re-evaluation counseling, play Tai Chi and sometimes brew tasty meads- all connected to my permaculture pursuits.

The formal schooling, becoming a domesticated scientist, is being pursued so I can function well in this oppressive economy with the goal of calling some shots as I pass through the machine. I hope to soon earn enough money to get my friends and I off the grid, as a starting point. In the meantime, my activism is designed to help everyone do that. I'm working on some agroforestry projects that will hopefullly soon make it into peer-reviewed publications, and make multi-tiered farming more accessible to people in the Ozark mountain range. I really want to visit Kyrgyzstan and check out the walnut fruit forests, an incredible and massive silvopasture system that we could all learn from:
