(projects i'm involved in)
After a long stint of gardening and building my self-sufficiency skills, I finally made the leap of purchasing my own property in 2012, with the intent of developing a personal homestead. Investigation into how to develop that property led me to permaculture.
A couple years later, having started working on the land some myself and also having hired permaculture consultants to come in and discuss the property with me, I made the decision to do a PDC as well. Geoff's teaching was eye-opening, filling in gaps in the learning and research I had done myself as well as putting the context of permaculture onto a global scale.
At present, I am still working on my own property and enjoying every minute of watching it progress, both in terms of design and ecology. I am also nearing the end of a second PDC. As our area is relatively rural there is not much available in terms of local consultancy/advice in the permaculture space, I am happy to make myself available for permaculture design consultations. Hopefully, with continued work on my property, work a few others are doing locally, and continued education in the community, we can turn north Idaho into a hotbed for permaculture.
