I currently am working at 2 jobs, both of which are relatively high stress. My hobbies are gardening, hiking, and beekeeping. I love the outdoors, yet I work inside, go figure. I am trying to convince myself to change things up.
A couple of years ago I stumbled across permaculture while learning about honeybees on youtube. While watching workwithnature beekeeping videos I came across his cob oven video, which led me to Paul Wheaton's cob oven video. After watching all of Paul Wheaton's youtube videos and listening to all of his podcasts, I followed a link in one of his emails to take Geoff Lawton's online PDC.
Currently, in the little bit of spare time I get, I am applying what I have learned on my one acre property. Currently I am digging swales by hand. As an experiment I dug a three foot fish pond and tamped the clay soil; it is holding water quite well so I will be doing more of these, but larger. I installed a rock/ mulch gabion to capture sediment as another experiment. After this property is complete I will start on my 7 acre property. That may be the point when I am ready to leave the corporate world behind!
