Hello! My name is Mariah Kraatz-Rimkus. I am a recent graduate from the University of Denver with a degree in International Studies and Human Rights. I am from Minnesota, but have been living in Colorado for the past couple of years and love it! I love to travel and experience new cultures.
I have always been very interested in what I can do to do my part in helping the environment and others.I eventually decided I was going to dedicate a lot of my time doing this and wanted to make a career out of it. I went into Human Rights because I wanted to help ensure that everyone was getting their basic needs, such as food, water and shelter. When I took the Permaculture Design course I was doing it to gain a better understanding of farming because the majority (80 percent) of those in poverty are farmers. From the course I realized through permaculture we can have a substantial impact on world hunger.
I hope to take permaculture practices and beliefs to impoverished communities to help others raise out of their current impoverished state by becoming self-sufficient in regards to food and in doing so help the environment as well! I just completed the Permaculture Design course in Koh Mak, Thailand on October 11th and received my certification. I eventually want to do the 5 designs to become a Permaculture Consultant.
