I worked for about 17 years in the logging industry in upstate NY selectively thinning native forests to provide 1. raw materials and 2. greater diversity for wildlife, before moving to Tampa bay, FL in 2002. This work gave me an appreciation for wildlife habitat management. Since moving to Tampa Bay I've been a health insurance agent, as well as held various sales jobs for large companies in the area.
I came to be interested in permaculture because I'm fascinated with the idea that by observing nature and copying and adapting systems that work with natural laws, a property can be set up to provide almost all a persons needs with a very small percentage of the physical work necessary using current "modern" methods.
I intend to use the income from my current sales job to buy a property and transform it using permaculture principles. Besides providing income from the many products it will produce, I may offer workshops, tours, and conduct permaculture classes on the property.
