Danielle Harriman and Maya Lokahi Thunderheart are looking for projects to work on while in the UK, specifically Ireland and England. We will be in Northern Ireland starting July 8th and we will be leaving for England around the middle of our trip -July 22nd- and we will be leaving Europe on August 5th. We would really like this opportunity to work and enjoy the culture and climate with you!
Danielle Harriman:
Danielle or "Nell" Harriman. I am a high school graduate, now attending a Junior College in Northern California. I met Maya in high school while attending a Waldorf school that had an organic farm on it, complete with cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, horses, a farm kitchen, and permaculture garden. Anyone familiar with Waldorf education might know that its founder, Rudolf Steiner, also developed biodynamic agriculture. As a part of our curriculum we would work on the farm and learn about an array of different horticulture and sustainable agg. practices. My favorite and most memorable experiences were those in the permaculture garden; everything made so much sense in the permaculture world. An unforgettable and touching experience as I continue to pursue such happiness that those experiences left me with. I have a desire to travel and learn more about my Irish heritage and other cultures, so I am excited to explore the world in which we all live with others that inhabit it no matter how similar or different we may be.
Maya Lokahi:
I am a musician, singer/songwriter from Maui, HI. I am currently taking classes at my local college; University of Hawaii Maui College, studying music, Spanish and bee keeping! I went to high school in California with Nell at Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm (more on that above), after attending a Waldorf middle school in Maui. I had such a good experience at Waldorf for many different reasons. Farming and gardening classes helped to kindle my love for the environment, practicing sustainable and organic agriculture, and most especially permaculture! I have always been passionate about living an organic and conscious life, and it especially became prominent in my high school years. Besides my interest in farming and agriculture, I have a deep set desire to travel the world and especially to the UK to explore the Irish, English, Welsh parts of my heritage. I have heard England calling to me for as long as I can remember! I am so excited to explore this beautiful world, to have new experiences and cultivate relationships with new people and with the earth.
