Recent Bachelor of Science in Plant Biology. Fascinated by all aspects of the physical and biological world. Or are they one and the same? I love my friends and family, aka. my tribe and am always looking to expand. I play guitar and write occasionally. I like even, intelligent discourse on all topics and I watch and listen intently. I believe that if you want to see something done, do it yourself and enlist some help.
I have always been exposed to nature and growing/cooking food. I am only one generation removed from a long history of land settlement and farming and I have always felt a deep connection to nature. I first discovered Permaculture after taking over my parents vegetable garden and sweating over rows of vegetables near the shade of a neglected apple tree. I figured there must be a more regenerative way to grow food. I began to comb through the few organic gardening books we had, a few internet searches, one thing led to another, I wound up in college and the library had a copy of the Designers Manual. I read it and it reflected much of what I was learning in my ecology classes. I really felt that I was on to something. That summer I really began to look and to see the principles I was reading about. That garden has now taken on its own order.
Currently I am living and working as an apprentice on Bertrand Farm in Niles, Michigan with the Niemier Family and pursuing a PDC online. Someday I would like to be involved with large scale landscape rehabilitation and production.
