Hi,
I use to work in IT and my Degree is in Software Engineering. I have been fascinated about permaculture eversince I read a book by Linda Woodrow called 'The Permaculture Home Garden' where she detailed a mandala style urban small garden where she could pick a huge amount of food from her backyard. At the time I was living in a small rented house in the 1990s and it wasn't until I recently bought my place that I initiated my dream urban permaculture garden. Garden started in 2013 and I have been continually finding the right symbiotic pattern for plants and soon my Rhode Island Red Chickens. I would be interested in meeting up with like minded people in the area so we can trade. I have joined the Central Coast Permaculture club and I have met lots of enthusiasts there.
My goal is to be able to source 90% of my groceries form my backyard. I want 200 plant species. I also want to develop a micro-climate to enable me to plant tropical trees. I believe I can do this by the use of thermal mass. I have embarked on some tropical species so it would be interesting to see if they can survive the winter.
