Biodynamic Food Farming Project

Project Type

Rural, Intentional Communities, Community, Demonstration, Educational

Project Summary

We are restarting a 1 acre organic food production garden using principles of Biodynamics and Biointensive Farming. We are inviting volunteers to exchange their time and help work primarily in the gardens. We are also looking for a full time manager to come and work for a minimum of 6 months.

Project Description

At Karuna Farm we are practicing, promoting and teaching organic food production as well as sustainable living and building. We are working with the Biodynamic System and principles of Biointensive Farming. We have a 1 acre organic garden that we are restarting for 2016. We are also accepting volunteers to help with the gardening work for 10 days or more. We are working with many aspects of organic food production and gardening. We are closely adhering to the Biodynamic Calendar and use various methods employed by Biodynamic food production. ORGANIC FOOD FARMING MANAGER REQUIRED We are also looking for a manager to join this project for a period of no less than 6 months. We will provide you with accommodation and food as well as a small base salary. This salary can be increased as you will have a share of any sales from food production. You will be responsible for managing the volunteer labour and directing work according to an agreed calendar of events. You should be passionate and self motivated, with some experience with both food production as well as managing. You will work under the supervision and lisase with Alex Leeor who will be guiding and providing necessary help.

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
