Bolo is an intentional eco village in rural Senegal with the mission of creating a sustainable way of life. As we experiment this new paradigm, we invite neighboring villages to join and share ancient knowledge with Bolo in order to create an authentic and organic self sustained community
** BOLO ECO-VILLAGE SENEGAL OPENING THE DOORS TO VOLUNTEERS! **
Two and half months after the arrival of the first Bolo'ers on Bololand, we have come to an expansion stage and decided to invite like-minded earthlings to come co-create with us. We believe we have set Bolo on the expansion path for 2015 which we see as the year of realizations.
For those who are reading this blog the first time, Bolo is an intentional community project in rural Senegal about 100 miles from Dakar the capital of Senegal (5 hours flight from Paris) . We envisioned this community to be international and reflective of the awakened consciousness of Earth. We own 2 adjacent properties which form a 8 acres beautiful piece of land that is to expand in the future. This land is a blank canvas where we intend to implement a sustainable and abundant community by the fruits of our vision and oue collective efforts. The property has a base accommodation unit: a shower room and a restroom, which we consider to be the corner stone of Bololand; a place to facilitate the building and development of Bolo village. We are currently sleeping under tents by choice. We have communal lunch together on a beautiful natural chill-out area next to the spiral garden. All is here to co create a thriving and successful community that reflects humanity's expanded consciousness. But what makes a community is people. Therefore, we are inviting all the beautiful souls who feel the calling of a playful, joyous, peaceful and abundant community to come co-create with Bolo an inspirational model for Gaia's future. We trust that Bolo, as a consciousness, will attract people who share this vision of a community of love, thriving on cooperation and permaculture principles. Do you feel like you share the same vision and are you ready to bring your dream into reality? If yes, send a facebook message to the bolo village fb page!
The main projects under the radar are the organic farming and the eco houses building. Bolo has the primary mission to build a community. So any skill and desire to participate in general community life activities like cooking, art, and participation in ongoing projects are nice assets
Organic Farming:
We initiated a series of preparations in building soil from intensive composting to making the first growing beds and planting the first seeds that are sprouting beautifully. We feel like keeping the momentum on the unfolding of this big dream and extend the organic farming area and build more growing beds. We are receiving on the property animal manure, saw dust, peanuts shells, ash, charcoal and all organic materials that we can find around to build up a solid capability for organic farming. May you have specific expertise in organic farming and a strong desire to live in the community of your making, please send me a message to the bolo village fb page!
Natural Building: Rising Hobbit Earth Bag House:
We selected sand, clay and thatch as main building materials. They are readily and abundantly available on the property and locally. We call Bolo first eco house model the "Rising Hobbit House". It is a house planted in the Earth for 1 to 2 meters to benefit from the grounding, healing and cooling of the earth and rising up to the sky for the expansion of spirit. This 2 story cylindrical house unit will have a thatched roof, and a 1 mezzanine as second floor. We'll build as many houses as needed for people staying long-term and some more for visitors. Remember a tent is already a nice feature in this savannah area. Houses are to be spread around Bololand to allow people some privacy.
Monthly contribution for volunteers: 100 Euro
Volunteers may desire to stay weeks, months, a year and some may arrive and never leave again hehe . Volunteers are advised to bring a sleeping tent and bag during the building of the eco houses. Bolo intends to be a moneyless sustainable community at maturity. But being on the building phase, we still have to face some costs of living during the transition. Therefore a 100 euro monthly contribution will cover the basic costs including a communal meal mainly late lunch and the use of all facilities around the property water and electricity and the true experience of living in a sustainable community. Internet cards can be purchased locally. We intend to stay connected to the world while building a complete new paradigm."

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PDC TeacherPeople who claim to teach some version of PDC somewhere in the world. |
|
PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
