Nova Oikos is an ongoing project under construction. It is a dream, a utopia on its way to reality! We operate in a kind of “slow management” … after all this is not a job, but a project of life and society!
Nova Oikos is
an ongoing project under construction. It is a dream, a utopia on its
way to reality! We operate in a kind of “slow management” … after all
this is not a job, but a project of life and society!
Physically,
it’s a place in the process of becoming a Permaculture Ecological
Station. It is also a familiar homestead, and like in many families,
with some “outstanding issues”. However, the goal is to transform it
into a place to disseminate environmental practices, by offering a space for learning and experimenting. Situated
in Camboriú, Santa Catarina, in a “reforestation” of pine and
eucalyptus and a secondary forest regenerating since 1980, we are
blessed with lots of water and Sun all year long! We aim to protect this
space from the developmental babarity of local region and facilitate
the mind-opening of those who pass by!
Ideologically we
are ecologists and humanists, considering that one way to generate
changes in the current political and economic system is by the
dissemination of ideas and practices related to cultural change and the
radical paradigm shift. Under the banner of permaculture, with its
ethical principles (Fair Share, caring for the Earth and for People), also
try to bring everyone and everything that we imagine under the big
umbrella of Degrowth: Transition Towns, the Global Ecovillage movement,
buen vivir, Human Rights added to the Earth Rights, Permaculture,
Solidarity Economy, Agroecology, common goods and resources, Open
Source, Creative commons, Co-housing, among many other alternatives.
In the summer of 2013, we will convene a strategic force to create the final permacultural design of the site and start the works on buidings, sanitary and energy structure! Contact us if you want to join: nova.oikos@gmail.com
Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

|
PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
