We are Hombres de Maíz, an organization of young permaculture enthusiasts building a 9 Meters Diameter Earthbag Building as a classroom for the Kids of &th Grade and we would like to share it with everyone.
Hi Everybody.
We are Hombres de Maíz (Men of Maize) and ee would like to share a little about our project developing at San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato at the Waldorf San Miguel School:
Hombres de Maíz is a group of college students and permaculture ethuisasts currently developing proyects focused on the aplication of permaculture towards the self reliance of water, food and housing of the people in Mexico. Until today we are building a 9 Meters Diameter Earthbag Building as a classroom for the Kids of &th Grade and we would like to share it with everyone.
All Work is being done by the hands of collegue students working as Hombres de Maíz in a capacitacion process, giving voluntary work expecting no payment (only the chance to learns this type of construction and help the school) and we are even helping with our own resources because the school is having problems getting the money to build it. But we want to show our people in Guanajuato a way of constructing infrastructure for rural areas with very modest budgets but alot of capacitacion and willpower and give this kids a decent and beautiful classroom. we have even developed with the kids of the school the creation and rehabilitation of the vegetable gardens of the school
It started on the 1st of December of 2010 and has been running for 5 weeks now. by now is the biggest Dome been built with superadobe that we know so far, we are also giving freeworkshops to the kids and his parents for free.
we Would like to share some photos. we will can keep you informed of the evolution of the project if you like, justlook for us in facebook: proyecto colectivo hombres de maiz

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

|

|
PRI PDCPeople who’ve taken a Permaculture Research Institute PDC somewhere in the world. |
|
PDC TeacherPeople who claim to teach some version of PDC somewhere in the world. |
|
PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
