Abundance Point is a 23 acre peninsula in the middle of 70,000 acre Clark's Hill Lake, near Augusta, GA, USA. Featuring 7 residential lots, 2 community docks and a boat ramp, this scenic community will feature a one mile recreational trail (on contour...access +swale), permaculture orchard, vineyard, conservation space, 4 vacation homes, 3 acres of horticulture space, an event center with occupancy of 50, gardener's residence, small scale livestock, and more.
This property was originally someone's upland pasture and a ridgeline overlooking the Little River. Based on the age and type of trees, it appears to have been heavily logged during the 1930s/40s. Sometime during the 1950s it was monoplanted with lumber pine...not a great choice on this rocky ridge with shallow soil depth. In 1965, the US Army Corps of Engineers ceded the property to the Federal Government to build Clark's Hill Lake for hydroelectric and recreational use. It was owned by a chemical company and used as their company campground until abandoned in 2010 and zoned residential by the county in 2016.
The current owners, Sustainable Property Management, are committed to developing this mixed use residential site as Permaculture Community.
