Kalen, platform for self realization and sustainable ways of Life
invites you to join a Permaculture workshop for Water harvesting.
One
of the main objectives of a Permaculture designer is to make the best
use of all the energies that are on the field. We want to store those
energies and slow down the process of losing them off the field. Water
is one of the most important energies we can work with.
In this 3
hour workshop we are going to redesign the existing water flows on the
field in such a way that it serves our purpose the best. For this we are
going to build a swale and are going to work on other water harvesting
possibilities our land has to offer.
This workshop will be a
hands-on workshop. Participants will be involved in the design of the
swale and in the actual building of it. So it would be great that if you
have a spade, shovel, grub hoe, mattock or other digging equipment, you
bring it with you.
This series of workshops originates from the
idea to make it possible for everyone who is interested to join us in
this experience of learning about the process of developing land from
scratch.
If interested to attend, please confirm your presents on Kalen´s event page on facebook.
NOTE:
participants should take care of their transport - it would be ideal if
those with vehicles write here if they have space for others, for
coordination and for a lower ecological footprint. :-)

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.
MemberA member is a permaculturist who has never taken a PDC course. These cannot become PDC teachers. Members may be novice or highly experienced permaculturists or anywhere in between. Watch their updates for evaluation. |

Permaculture MatchmakerOne of these badges will show if you select your gender and the "I'm single, looking for a permaculture partner" option in your profile. |
|
PDCPeople who claim to have taken a Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course somewhere in the world. |
|
PDC VerifiedPeople who have entered an email address for the teacher of their PDC course, and have had their PDC status verified by that teacher. Watch their updates for evaluation. |
|
PRI PDCPeople who’ve taken a Permaculture Research Institute PDC somewhere in the world. |
|
PDC TeacherPeople who claim to teach some version of PDC somewhere in the world. |
|
PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
