Leafhopper Farm just picked up it's first installment of chestnut trees from Washington Chestnuts up near the boarder with B.C. Canada. We're setting the seedlings into pots for now while we move them around the landscape to see where they thrive best. The back field is looking like the best place to start a new forest. These grafted nut producers will be a huge boost to our forest diversity, adding another crop to the farm with this long term investment. As climat changes, these trees will be ready to adapt, and already heardy to colder winters and hotter summers. Now all we have to do is fend off vole and deer attack till the trees are large enough to fend for themselves.
