An inspiring TED talk from Charlie Price from Aquaponics UK as he explores the role aquaponics can play in providing food security in UK towns and cities. In this talk, Charlie shows how cities in the UK can combine aquaponics with many permaculture principles like chickens on the roof and mushrooms grown in the damp basements in converted and reclaimed warehouses to provide fresh food for the community.
To prove his point Aquaponics UK have built a prototype system located next to a nail beauty salon and a bus stop! Inside this "shop" they aim to challenge the customer with new ways of food production, while at the same time, turn wastes into resources by transforming disused urban spaces to provide not only food, but resilient communities.
