Elkhorn Community Garden
Most recently we've created a community garden for a low income community of single moms in Campbell River. We've called it the Elkhorn Community Garden. It is a great success and we marvel at what the women have produced in their garden and how much the neighbourhood has benefited, just from the garden's presence. The RCMP are also grateful! Less calls from a previously rough neighbourhood.  Many of the couple of dozen children in the complex actually enjoyed assisting in the process of building the garden and are now reaping the rewards - fresh produce! Given the opportunity, given the guidance and just a little bit of support from the community, the residents rose to the challenge and are now reaping the rewards. They have also commented on how good it feels to drive around the corner towards the building, and see this incredibly beautiful and productive garden - truly beckoning the parents and children 'home'.
