Hi All,
I am in the process of talking with my daughter's primary school, in regards to putting in a Food Forest. I am hoping to link it to subjects, canteen, after school care "OOSH", who are currently running with a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program.
My idea is to source materials locally from newspaper donations, parents who may own excavation equipment, or local suppliers offering free advertising in the school newsletter. We would probably have to buy plants.
There has been a lot of rain in our area lately, and saw it all lying around going to waste. parts of the playground have been out of bounds, as it's still so boggy. In summer, it can be very dry here. SO, I thought swales!!!!
I have run a project previously, in my children's old preschool that seemed to work well. I thought we are going to be coming here for the next 7years, let's make it a better place than when we got here. Could start with a food forest, and see what happens.
Chatting on Friday,......see if they're keen.
