I made and installed ground water troughs, that direct rain water to a collection depression that flows into a small 4'w x 8'l x 3'd garden pond, which overflows into another down the hill, and then onto a third, all of relative size. I built a 4th pond in the front of the house.
A variety of gleying, and clay puddling had been played with, and puddling seems to be the most effective thus far. I am quite certain that repairs will be necessary come Spring as the ponds hadn't time to "cure" as they were started late in the season, and the cold set in rather quickly.
Frogs had moved in almost immediately, with 6 inhabiting the first built pond, and 3 in the second. Come Spring I will have pics of all the ponds.
