I recently returned home from New Zealand where I took part in a PDC at the Koanga Institute. The Koanga institute is a heritage seed saving organization in the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand and their PDC courses are recognized by the Permaculture Research Institute. I had a great experience, met wonderful people and learned valuable information.
Now that I am back in Oklahoma I am completing my masters degree in agriculture at Oklahoma State University in December 2013 and beginning to develop my own permaculture projects as well as beginning work as a permaculture design consultant. I am also working with a new upstart company called IndigDev (indigenous Development) and we are working to find solutions to agricultural, environmental and community related issues using "indigenous" or local grassroot means. We will do this by engaging locally in productive partnerships with individuals, public and private institutions, educational institutions, and businesses. We will work to increase awareness and knowledge of agriculture and environmental issues and act as partners and consultants for those looking to make transitions from traditional agriculture models. The result of these partnerships will be incresed knowledge, implementation of appropriate technology, practices that work with nature instead of agianst it, and ultimately, more regenerative local systems.
