We had a busy winter/spring with the bulk of our efforts focused on contruction of a 4 room guest house made from hand pressed compressed earth block and local stone used as the foundation and stem walls. As of June the roof is on and all that's left is the finish work, floors, and double chamber, clivus moltrum style composting toilets. Ready date for occupancy expected autumn 2013.

We also have a new member Miguel living at the ranch who brings a wealth of common sense practical knowledge - not to mention a great sense of fun! Miguel is originally from Spain but has been living here in MExico for 20 years and has previously raised chickens for commercial free-range egg production. Miguel is spearheading the building of a facilities for 100 layers and we already have a market for 700 eggs per week! This along with our expanding cheese production and market for all our products with a distributor of organic products in nearby Puerto Vallarta means that we may soon be turning the corner toward positive cash flow!

Another exciting development is that we're now in talks with Instituto Tierra y Cal / iCATIS Mexico to host our first sustainability workshop this coming winter!

Last but not least, we're beginning swales and plantings for a 1 acre food forest. We are consulting with two local elders who have good knowledge of wild food bearing species indigenous to our area but we could use help identifying appropriate plantings of cultivated species.
