we could do with some help

Project: maemutgarden

Posted by Marco Tosi almost 12 years ago

opportunities for volunteers.

We have been working at maemutgarden for nearly two years, in this time we have built our house with adobe bricks, planted around one thousand trees, harvested rice twice and started a number of veggie beds.

We make our own compost, fertilizers and pesticides, and have ongoing building work in the shape of an adobe workshop/toolshed and also a new wooden bungalow. There is also ongoing work in the garden and this summer we will be planting a new small "forest" of indigenous trees.

More information can be found at www.maemutgarden.com

We are now looking for help to enhance our online presence, this is something we are not very good at. The "work" involves getting a feel for the place, exploring and creating a small photo library of the place, with a view to improve/expand our blog and possibly creating a new facebook page. There would also be opportunity to join in any activity already happening, all our work is done with the help of a small crew of local guys from the area, so we are not really looking for cheap extra digging manpower, but there is quite a lot of interesting stuff to learn by joining in and a chance to experience thai village life first hand.

There is accommodation available, see photo below. Contact me at maemutgarden@gmail.com for more details if you are interested.

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
